An end, and a new beginning

Today we cremated my aunt. She’d been unwell for a little while and I had seen this pristine, classy and vibrant person I had grown up with fade little by little. Still does not make her passing any more bearable. All through the service My mind ran to thoughts of what I will leave behind and my new siblings I have in my life. I was just thinking how much they each mean to me and I’d hate not to let them know how much I love each and… View More

More Family Updates

On the family front things are going ok. Sara and izzy are fine, big sis and I re as close as you can imagine but she has broken her foot. Again big sis being who she is just gets on with it, she’s a constant source of amazement and fascination to me. Like most baby brothers I find myself wanting to get approval and validation from her. Half sister from my mothers side still refuses to speak to me, but even though it hurts I am slowly… View More

Another little personal update

OK, Where do I start? Well start with work. Thanks to the shitstorm that is Brexit I got laid off from work after working there for 4 years. Lucky I managed to secure a place for when my time is up! Not sure how long this will last but it's a job for now. The interview had me doing a wee test for them, pretty standard stuff really. But it did go to highlight the aging laptop I had. This was further hmered home when I started… View More

The Pitfalls of Tracing Birth Family as an Adoptee

As an adoptee myself I have some experience in the area of tracing family members and the whole maze of pitfalls that surround it. I'm not an expert in this, but I will give what information and advice I have picked up and you may take it for what it is worth. Not all doors can be opened You can't unscramble eggs. Not a funny quote just a fact. You can't unlearn what you learn, and once you start your journey you could find… View More

Family update

Currently on holidays but thought I'd post an update on how things are going. My Birth Mother My birth mother and I still remain close and we have had long heart felt chats about our feelings and have been there for each other. Having my birth mother there makes everything feel so nice. Big sister Big sister and I remain as close as ever. I do try to not over crowd her and let her and her partner have as… View More

Family Get Together

I'm on holiday this week, and today on the first actual day my wife, daughter and myself met up with my half brother Andrew. Later on we went for coffee at the coffee shop where his wife worked and we picked her up after her shift finished. Then we headed back to their place where we had dinner and chatted some more. I also met up with my half sister Lesley too, it was so nice to see them again and Andrew and myself are so alike some people… View More
